Somalchemy is a collective of integrative practitioners passionate about creating an allied space for your health and well being. Our work centers somatic processes, meaning we work with the body’s innate functions to support autonomic, physical, and mental health. We offer a variety of trauma-informed, holistic and integrative approaches to meet you at every stage of life.
The roots of Somalchemy (so-mal-ka-me) lie in the fusion of Soma—Greek for “living body”—and Alchemy, the ancient art of transmutation. It is the heart of each cellular structure, the union of mythos and logos. Together, it speaks to the capacity of transforming the elements of our daily lives into balance and wholeness.
Our creative approach offers gentle, embodied sessions designed to support your innate capacity for integration and presence. While our work is holistic, this is not psychotherapy or a substitute for primary medical care.
Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing® is a body-oriented approach to healing trauma and stress developed by Dr. Peter Levine. It focuses on tracking sensations in the body and supporting the nervous system’s natural capacity to self-regulate and heal. Unlike traditional talk therapy, SE works with the body’s felt sense to help release trapped survival energy and restore natural resilience. Sessions involve gentle awareness practices, movement, and breathing techniques that help your nervous system find its way back to balance and safety.
Integrative Bodywork
Integrative bodywork is a dynamic type of physical care work that centers touch, movement, and breath. It allows the nervous system to reorganize and reprogram patterns of holding that no longer serve us beneficially.
Seasonal Workshops
Many of our practitioners offer ongoing classes, single- or multi-day workshops, and other community events and rituals. We encourage anyone interested to check out our “Offerings” page for more information.

Rooted in psychosomatic awareness, our mission is to empower individuals through the tangential. We use touch, movement, and other creative and embodied rituals to foster inner harmony.

Mental and physical health is severely disrupted when our nervous system gets stuck in fight, flight, or freeze. We use proven clinical and holistic techniques to address the issue right at the source.

Our practitioners are here for you. We believe in the mind-body’s innate healing ability, and strive to help you rebuild the internal repertoire of tools and skills that mind, body, and spirit provide.

Trauma Therapist & Author

Michelle is a body-based practitioner and licensed Somatic Experiencing® (SE) therapist who specializes in psychosomatic methods. She discovered SE during a period of acute illness, appreciating how SE creates a broader field to hold the healing process while enabling and empowering the body to guide us to places that words alone cannot access.
Michelle founded Somalchemy in 2021 with the intention of establishing a community of seasoned practitioners to guide and support others along their unique path—this entire platform is a product of experience and love.
